For traffic offences and tenant evictions, your presence may usually not be required. For example, the Ontario Provincial Offences Act allows the defendant to appear through an agent.

In criminal matters and small claims, your presence is almost always necessary at a certain procedural stage.  We can begin the process using technology, but you may need to be present in Toronto for trials and other court appearances.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot. That includes the way to attend the court. Remote court appearances through Zoom or by telephone are the routine now.
