Like other courts, the Small Claims Court, of course, collects fees for every step of the procedure that either party takes. The plaintiff’s (claimant’s) process begins with registering a small claim. The claim filing fee is $108.00. If the plaintiff and defendant do not settle the claim at the settlement conference, the Small Claims Court judge will send the case to trial. In this case, the plaintiff must pay a $308.00 fee for requesting a trial. Motion hearing costs $127.00. The defendant must pay $77.00 to register a defence against a small claim. Additional fees apply for other standard services, including enforcement procedures.
